Tizón moves further south – he is now close to Bamako

Tizón- the young Egyptian vulture tagged on the 24th September in the Sierra de Hornachos (Extremadura, Spain) – moved a bit further south, and is now close to Bamako, Mali´s capital.

Tizón had been found in August in Extremadura, disoriented and suffering malnutrition, and after rehabilitation was released by the Junta de Extremadura, AMUS and the VCF with a GSM tag. The Egyptian Vulture is globally Endangered, and Spain is one of its strongholds.

After quickly crossing the Gibraltar straight and flying over Morocco and Mauritania almost non-stop (with only overnight rests), Tizón spent a few weeks on the Mauritania-Mali border. Where will he go next? To be continued…
